SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR SHLL SUMMER 2020 PROGRAMS

DO NOT COME TO PRACTICE OR A GAME IF YOU OR

ANYONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS EXPERIENCING ANY

SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH COVID-19, INCLUDING

FEVER OR CHILLS, SHORTNESS OF BREATH OR

DIFFICULTY BREATHING, COUGH, FATIGUE, MUSCLE

OR BODY ACHES, OR GASTROINTESTINAL ISSUES.

Coaches:

·      Social distancing (maintaining a distance of at least six feet apart) is expected for all participants.

·      Identify a safety ambassador (a parent volunteer) to encourage and remind the players to maintain social distancing and other safety precautions.

·      No contact between players and coaches, or between players.

·      Balls should be rotated frequently throughout the practice/game, and disinfected after every practice/game.  Any other team equipment used should be disinfected after each practice/game.

·      No sharing of equipment.  Each player’s equipment should be kept separate from other players’ equipment.

·      No handshakes, no high fives, no team huddles.  Encourage sportsmanship by tipping a hat instead.

·      Masks should be worn by coaches whenever practicable.

·      The bleachers should be used as a dugout to encourage players to maintain social distancing.  The on deck batter should be in the on deck circle, and the next batter should be in the dugout.

·      Wherever possible, coaches (not players) should act as catchers to ensure a proper distance is maintained.

·      Any umpires utilized for a sandlot game should be in the field behind the pitcher.

·      You must quarantine for 14 days after your return from any of the states currently identified in the Governor’s June 30th advisory.

Players:

·      Social distancing (maintaining a distance of at least six feet apart) is expected for all participants and spectators (including parents and siblings).  Please consider limiting the number of spectators for practices and games, and please stay in the outfield section beyond the fence, or watch from the car if possible.

·      Bring your own hand sanitizer and use it frequently.

·      Bring your own water, drinks, snacks – no sharing.

·      Do not share any equipment.

·      No close contact with other players or coaches.

·      No handshakes, no high fives, no team huddles.  Show sportsmanship by tipping your hat instead.

·      Masks should be worn by players whenever possible, such as when not engaged in strenuous activity (i.e., while on the bench).

·      Disinfect equipment after each practice and game.

·      You must quarantine for 14 days after your return from any of the states currently identified in the Governor’s June 30th advisory.
